"I am 75 years of age, and have been entertaining since the early 70's. Although I do play guitar, my main instrument is my voice. Like most vocalists, I have been dealing with Acid Reflux throughout my career. I recently had an issue with my voice (essentially lost it) and thought that my career was over. Checked out by my ENT and was diagnosed with Muscle Tension Dysphonia (MTD) with a suggestion to see a Speech Language Therapist. "Thank you Orchard Speech Pathology Inc. for helping get my dad back onto solid regular foods after his care home had unnecessarily moved him to puréed foods, which had lowered his quality of life. Using the FEES video scope swallow test at his bedside, Ritoo at Orchard Speech Pathology was able to determine my dad swallows all his food and drink properly and she wrote a report with the finding and recommendations for his care home. The test itself only took 5 minutes or so and was tolerated alright by my dad. The home was then able use the results to reinstate a regular diet. Without this test, he would have been on puréed foods for the rest of his life.
